September Update #2 - Surgery went well and I am recovering with little to no pain. Don't know if that is due to the pain meds, but I'll take it for now. I'm at least six weeks in a sling, probably closer to eight weeks, so I don't think we will be doing the October pop-up in Chardon :(
I did manage to get my small ebb and flow hydroponics system up and running and planted strawberries in it. So far, it's working well. We harvested one, very small strawberry from it so far - it was very juicy and delicious!
I also worked on a sourdough discard recipe (before surgery) that came out most excellent! I don't know if I am switching from my current recipe, but it is an option. I made some chocolate chip scones (yum, and yes, I'll have those for available at our next show) and a dough proofer.
I also tried to make bread at the beginning of this week. Making the dough was easy, and I was testing out a theory to increase my productivity (ie, increase the number of loaves I can make in 24 hours). The theory worked out, but my one-handed shaping skills left alot to be desired for the final loaves. Overall success, with more tang in the bread than normal. I may start selling sourdoughs at different fermentation times (how long a dough ferments results in different levels of tang in the final sourdough. The longer the ferment, the more tang in the bread).
