September Update 2

September Update #2 - Surgery went well and I am recovering with little to no pain. Don't know if that is due to the pain meds, but I'll take it for now. I'm at least six weeks in a sling, probably closer to eight weeks, so I don't think we will be doing the October pop-up in Chardon :(

September Update

We've been having a blast at the Chardon Farmer's Market! We were planning to do the pop-up shows in September and October, but unfortunately, I don't think we will be able to do them. I help set up crowd control fencing for the Cleveland Air Show, and this year I injured my right shoulder. Turns out, I tore two of my rotator cuff tendons. We are currently waiting to schedule surgery to get it repair, and the recovery is anywhere from six months to a year or more.

Another excellent Chardon Farmer's Market

We had an excellent time at our second Chardon Farmer's Market. Our goal was to get more items made for this one, and we came with almost 30 loaves, along with our cinnamon rolls and our new item, English muffins! Home from vacation - back to work

Back to our home from a wonderful vacation in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan! After a week of absence, the garden grew tremendously. We will have tomatoes for the next few months, I think. The cucumbers that were non-existent last week are ready to pick, pumpkins have started, and I can't tell if we have any squash going yet. The beans have finally started to flower after three months!!

Up and...strolling

Hello world! Big Dog Homestead is up and...strolling. We will be working on our site over the next few weeks, in between work, a garden almost in harvest mode, and baking for upcoming farmer's markets. If you met us at the last Chardon Farmer's Market, drop us a line and say hi. If you bought from us, let us know what you thought of our breads, cinnamon rolls, and cookies. I'm hoping to have more sourdough breads at the next one, which will hopefully be August 17. We're adjusting schedules to see if we can make it work!
